Details: Zine Workshop
This two hour workshop will be an introduction to the notion of “The Zine” as a space for healing, through creative self expression and reflection. Using an arts based approach, the aim of the workshop is to elicit self expression in a non-intrusive, relaxed and enjoyable environment.
The practice of exploring our thoughts, feelings and emotions within the pages of a Zine, is one that can make visible our personal narratives, which in turn, act as records of our thought processes. Reflecting on such a practice can offer valuable opportunities to start conversations with ourselves, loved ones, or health professionals regarding the narrative we have in place about our life. Ultimately, creating a safe space to question the stories we tell ourselves, while opening up personally tailored paths of healing and recovery.
Prompts for the workshop:
Before attending, please take time to think about something you would like to explore in our workshop. For example, it could be around LGBTQ advocacy, diversity, vulnerability, or the idea that our strength lies in being able to accept our own fragility.
Facilitator: Marc Doyle (he/him) is an Arts Based Educator living in Tokyo. He holds an MA in Visual Arts Education from the National College of Art & Design in Ireland. He currently works in the Center for Language Education & Research at Sophia University.
